Proof of Concept: PK lens to FD body adapter
I have been searching for a way to adapt a Pentax K Mount lens to Canon FD body. I wanted to be able to use the lenses with my trusty Canon EF (Electronic F) camera. But I wasn’t ever able to find any mention or example of an adapter for this purpose. Finally I decided to try it myself. Here is the result.
It is a FD body cap shaved down and glued to a PK lens mount. There is no spring lock. The lens is held in simply by tension. The trouble I found was that to achieve infinity focus the lens itself had to be pretty much touching the FD body mount. At this moment it seems to focus at infinity. After I take some shots I will confirm the focus.
Infinity focus seems to be spot on. The only problem I have is that the lens is prone to demount itself from the adapter with stiffer aperture rings. I will have to look at adding a lock to it.
I was informed by the user melismus at uglyhedgehog.com that “the effective thickness of the adapter needs to be 3.45 mm to get infinity focus.”
